RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH A NO-SMOKING POLICY IN THE COUNTY COURTHOUSE
WHEREAS, second-hand smoke has been determined to cause or significantly contribute to a number of serious health problems; and
WHEREAS, it is the will of many of the citizens of the county that the county legislative body institute a no-smoking policy for the county courthouse to help protect the public from the dangers of second-hand smoke; and
WHEREAS, the county legislative body has determined that the health and safety of the citizens of ___________ County and others who may use the courthouse facilities in _________ County require that this building be smoke-free; and
WHEREAS, the county is authorized to impose a civil penalty for violation of the county’s no-smoking policy under T.C.A. § 5-1-121;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the county legislative body of
County meeting in
SECTION 1. The
area, and smoking shall not be permitted within the courthouse or within _____ feet of any entrance to the courthouse.
SECTION 2. Violations of this resolution shall be punishable by a civil penalty in an amount not to exceed Fifty Dollars ($50.00).
SECTION 3. The county mayor shall cause signs to be posted at appropriate locations inside the courthouse.
SECTION 4. This resolution shall be effective upon its passage and approval, the public welfare requiring it.
