Please allow us introduce Mary Ann, our electronic library virtual assistant. Mary Ann’s creation is rooted in the legacy of a former CTAS staff member, Mary Ann Moon. With unwavering dedication, Mary Ann served at CTAS from 2003 until her well-deserved retirement in 2019.
Mary Ann Moon was more than an employee; she was a visionary. Her approach to designing and developing instructional content was guided by a person-first perspective -- maintaining focus on the person using the content and ensuring their needs are met. She understood that information should be accessible, relatable, and user-friendly. This philosophy permeated her work, leaving an indelible mark on the agency and county government across Tennessee.
One of Mary Ann’s most profound contributions was the creation of our electronic library, affectionately known as “e-Li”. Through tireless effort, she curated a wealth of knowledge and practical guidance from the many print manuals CTAS produced every year. Mary Ann developed the architecture and structure of our electronic library, which has become the go-to hub for county officials, providing answers, insights, and clarity on a wide range of topics.
Sadly, Mary Ann passed away in October 2021. This virtual assistant has been named in her honor as an homage to all her hard work and dedication to person-first information services.
Mary Ann’s legacy lives on through our virtual assistant. Just like its human counterpart, our virtual assistant is committed to serving county officials and their staff, empowering users with knowledge, and ensuring that the spirit of person-first design endures. So, the next time you seek information from e-Li, remember that it’s a tribute to the remarkable Mary Ann Moon.
