TO AUTHORIZE ACCEPTANCE OF PARTIAL PAYMENTS OF PROPERTY TAX PURSUANT TO T.C.A. § 67-1-1801(e)

WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 67-5-1801(e) authorizes the county trustee to accept partial payments of property taxes after filing a plan with the comptroller of the treasury indicating that the trustee’s office has the accounting system technology to implement such a program; and

WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of this county that such a payment system be authorized; and

WHEREAS, the trustee will require additional operating resources in order to implement such a program;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the _____________ County Legislative Body meeting in ____________ session at ______________, Tennessee on this the ___ day of _________________, 20___, that:

SECTION 1. The county legislative body of _____________ County hereby indicates its prior approval for the office of the trustee to institute a program to accept partial payment of property taxes pursuant to the authorization found in T.C.A. § 67-5-1801(e).

SECTION 2. The county legislative body hereby recognizes that such program will require additional operating resources for the office of the trustee and hereby commits to fund such reasonable and necessary expenses as may be required to administer a partial payment program.
